Offering guided trips by dog team over the mountain plateau above Hodlekve. It was a sailing trip in 2010 that got Markus interested in dog mushing.

He sailed from Norway to the Canary Islands, and on the way he met a fellow sailor who had mushed. He recomm
ended it to Markus, and a year later he got a job working with sled dogs outside Røros, Norway. Later he went to Alaska to race the Yukon Quest 1600km sled dog race, and many other races, before settling with his love, Laura Zalm in Fronningen, Norway. With the coming of a family, and the r

esponsibility of young ones, coupled with a desire to return to Sailing, Markus and Laura passed the Company down to Kenzo Dijksterhuis, from the Netherlands. Kenzo moved the dogyard to Sogndal Skisenter Hodlekve in the dead of winter 2020, starting to operate commercially immediately, with great success, leading up to the collapse of the International tourism industry under COVID-19

After the winter, Kenzo and his professional staff moved the Dogyard once more, settling on a beautiful farm in Sogndalsdalen, where the happy huskies and their happy owners remain until this very day. Fjordhusky is a World-Class Sleddog kennel with a focus on Long-Distance Racing and Tourism, as well as accomodating unforgettable sleddog tours for people with Special Needs

That's a wrap! Fjordhusky has finished it's last experience with guests as a company! 🙏
We're now officially closed for business. After fighting our hearts out for almost 15 years, and trying to keep our doors open for the last years, we've decided to bite the bullet and let this Dream go💔
We'd like to extend a massive show of gratitude and shout out to all the amazing dogs 🐺, guests, staff/interns and business partners that helped us to keep going, keep growing and learning through a Pandemic, a massive health crisis internally and all the other obstacles thrown in our way. We never gave up trying to make it work somehow 💪

We tried to tag as many of you as possible (max 20 tags allowed), but those who are not tagged, you know you're in our hearts and minds 🔥

We've had a blast, and we're sad to see the dogs get sold and moved to other Sleddog kennels in Scandinavia 🥲

But they are all going to good homes, and we have memories to cherish for the rest of our lifes 🌅

Dog tours on the mountain plateau

We offer guided dog tours and unique outdoor experiences on the mountain plateau which lays above Sogndal Skisenter Hodlekve.

The area is perfect for dog sledding. This is a unique experience where we are one with the dogs and mother Nature. Our three hours roundtrips are a perfect match for all who have a thirst for the Norwegian mountains.

NO: Bli med oss på ei fantastisk reise. Våre huskyhundar tek deg med på ein fjelltur du aldri kjem til og gløyma. Me startar i Hodlekve, så går turen anten opp til Høgehaug, eller runda rundt Kolsetevatnet, Fjærlandsete, Sumhaug, Høgehaug og til slutt ned igjen til Hodlekve.

Terrenget ovanfor skisenteret er perfekt for hundesleder. Lett kupert og opent terreng gjev hundane det beste grunnlaget for og drive med det dei elskar mest av alt. Springe avgarde, kjempe seg fram i laussnøen, over fjell og åsar, over islagte vatn og seige motbakkar. Og sjølvsagt med deg og hundeføraren vår Kenzo bak som styrer det heile.
