Some people don’t just represent a place, they are the place.😍

Meet Frode Goa: surfer, skater, creator and founder of KANT®. One of Stavanger’s most distinctive brands, born from the raw beauty and quiet creativity of Norway’s west coast.

From early morning surf sessions at Jæren to hand-printing timeless designs in the heart of Fargegata, Frode’s story captures something essential about the Stavanger region: authenticity, individuality and life lived close to the ocean.

This is the latest story in Voices of the Fjords, and one we are incredibly proud to share.

Meet Stavanger’s very own Leaning Tower… But with more oil, less pizza.😁

The “Leaning Tower” of Jåttåvågen, locally known as Skråtårnet, was built in 1984 by the company Norwegian Contractors as a giant offshore engineering experiment. And yes, it really does lean by 16 degrees on purpose. Not because someone forgot the spirit level.🙈

This 50-metre concrete giant was designed to prove Norway could build the enormous concrete structures needed for the North Sea oil industry, including the legendary Troll platform, which rises an astonishing 472 metres from seabed to top. Basically, this tower walked so Troll could run.

Originally, the tower was only meant to be temporary and even had built-in dynamite channels so it could be blown up afterwards. Very dramatic. But instead of going out with a bang, it ended up storing cement… and later hosting church services with spectacular views over Ryfylke and the Gandsfjord. Probably one of the few places where you could pray while leaning slightly sideways.

Today, the tower stands as a quirky symbol of Stavanger’s engineering history, right in the middle of Jåttåvågen’s transformation from heavy industry to modern city life.

So if Pisa has a leaning tower… Stavanger decided to make one tougher, taller, and capable of surviving the North Sea. 😄

Discover the spectacular Preikestolen. A dramatic cliff towering 604 metres above the Lysefjord. The hike is as rewarding as the view, offering unforgettable scenery all the way to one of Norway’s most iconic landmarks.

If you're visiting Stavanger this summer, one day trip almost always comes up in conversation: Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). Here's an easy way to get there.

To some, this is just another football stadium…⚽
For the people of Stavanger, it’s not 😍

This is the home of Viking Football Club, “the dark blue”, and a true symbol of local pride.

Lyse Arena has a capacity of 15,900 and was built in 2004.

Did you know?
The local train from Stavanger city centre stops right at the doorstep of the stadium entrance 🚆

Easter! 🐥

Easter in Norway is family time, holiday time, the colour-yellow-time, Oranges, Norwegian chocolate "Kvikk Lunch" time, and the traditional roasted lamb time.

We celebrate easter on the Edge of Norway outside, skiing on rotten spring snow, or boiling easter eggs by the sea. We don`t have the easter bunny, we celebrate the easter chicken♥️

If the weather is bad, we put a log in the fire and bring out the good old Yatzy or Ludo games for some quality time. A round of Trivial Pursuit with family and friends maybe. It`s time for a spring time breather, and reflection.

What`s the easter tradition in your country?

✈️ A new Nordic connection takes off this Sunday. 🙌

At 10:20, the very first Finnair flight departs from Stavanger to Helsinki, marking the start of a brand new route between two distinct corners of the Nordics.

For travellers, this means something important:
👉 a new and seamless way to reach the Edge of Norway

Think dramatic fjords, world-class food, and experiences shaped by nature, people and place. This is where Norway feels a little wilder, a little closer, and a lot more memorable 🌊

And yes, it goes both ways. From Stavanger, Helsinki is now just a flight away. Expect bold design, cool city energy and Finns who say little… but mean everything 😍

Two Nordic worlds. One new connection.
