It is urgent: Our kelp forests are vanishing! On a recent expedition to the archipelago's protected zones, we encountered a startling reality: a sea of urchins where a lush kelp forest should thrive. This vital habitat, once teeming with diverse fish, crustaceans, and myriad tiny creatures, now mirrors the aftermath of a devastating wildfire, leaving only sea urchins behind. This isn't just a loss; it's a call to action. Can you join us in the vital mission to revive and restore this crucial marine ecosystem?

Darkness can't stop our diving adventures! We were initially concerned that the 'Mørketid'—Norway's period of darkness—might hinder our Toftefjorden restoration missions, but our team was able to confirm that it is possible to dive in polar night conditions, with the help of our underwater flashlights. It will be cold, of course! That's why divers need a dry suit, instead of the usual wet suit, to keep body heat to the maximum before returning inside the catamaran. Are you an experienced diver? Would you be up for the thrilling challenge of joining us this winter?

The first project week of The Grand Shift culminates in an evening of celebration this Saturday at 19:00 at the Pukka Travels Basecamp in Tromsø. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve gotten the chance to participate during the week or not, this is the perfect opportunity to get up to speed on what’s happened as well as meeting the people involved in the The Grand Shift.

- Mingle and network with engaged participants from the weeks various endeavours.
- Learn about the work that has been done and the results of the effort.
- Enjoy a dinner featuring locally-sourced Arctic dishes.

As the evening progresses, we move to a local venue where a DJ will provide a soundtrack for the rest of the evening.

OH WHAT A DAY 🌊🤿💪🦅 We dived, collected sea urchins, saw eagles, learned, and had so much fun! The first TGS operational day is completed and it was a success!! Between strong winds, rain, and rainbows these heroes set out to revive the kelp forest in Toftefjord. After a short rest we get to do it again!
