Before you photograph the Northern Lights, read this 📖
Most people miss the shot because of the wrong camera settings .

Here are the settings we use when photographing the aurora in Northern Norway 🤩�
📸 Northern Lights Camera Settings

Camera setup: Wide Lens (16-35mm)
Shutter Speed: �2–5s for strong aurora�8–15s for weaker aurora

ISO�1600–3200, This is a good starting range.�You can push this number even higher if you camera can handle the noise (grain).��Aperture:�As low as your lens can go (f/1.8 — f/2.8 is a good base)��Focus:�Manual focus to infinity �(extra tip in the comment section)

Composition:
Take some time to visualise the photo. Don’t spray and pray 🙏🏻��One mistake beginners make:�Using exposures that are too long.
If the aurora moves fast, reduce your shutter speed or the lights will blur. Sometimes it can be even less than a second of exposure 🤯

❄️ Things people don’t think about!

2second timer ⏰
This avoids camera shake when pressing the shutter.

Warm clothes 🧤
Standing still for hours gets cold fast. Use merino wool for warmth and breathabilty.

Headlamp 🔦
Helps adjust settings in the dark.

Extra battery 🔋
Cold drains batteries very quickly.�
