🌌 Have you ever seen a red aurora?

This lucky couple did — and it left all of us speechless.

Red auroras are extremely rare, even here in Tromsø. But when they appear… they light up the sky like fire.

This isn’t just a photo.
It’s a memory that will stay with them forever.
And we were there to capture it.

Standing tall in the Arctic. 🇳🇴❄️

No filters. No noise. Just mountains, silence, and that feeling of being truly alive.

This is what our fjord tours are all about – connection, perspective, and moments that stay with you long after the snow has melted.

Under the glow of the auroras, silhouettes stand against the vast Arctic landscape, framed by the endless sky and the quiet majesty of nature.

In the stillness of the night, as the lights dance above, time seems to slow, and the world feels both immense and intimate.

It is in moments like these that we are reminded of our place in the universe—small in the face of nature’s grandeur, yet capable of experiencing something profound, fleeting, and unforgettable.

And as the lights fade into the night, only the memory remains; a quiet reminder that some moments, though brief, stay with us forever.

Fjords | Northern Lights | Whales

We often receive many questions about our tours, but one of the most frequent is whether one Northern Lights season is better than another (e.g., 2024 compared to 2023) or how many days should be booked for an aurora tour.

The answer to whether one season is better than another in Tromsø is simple: every year is great for seeing the auroras! Since Tromsø is located directly beneath the auroral oval, we have the chance to witness the Northern Lights every night, as long as the conditions are right. As many of you may know, the three main factors are: clear skies, darkness, and solar activity. With these conditions, every year in Tromsø offers fantastic opportunities to experience the magic of the auroras!

As for how many days you should book? The answer is simple: as many as you can! The more days you have, the better your chances of catching clear skies and optimal conditions to witness the lights in all their glory. Each night is a new adventure, and the more opportunities you give yourself, the more unforgettable your experience will be.

“Under the glow of the moon and the dancing auroras, the sky seemed to whisper ancient secrets, wrapping the earth in an enchanting and timeless serenity.”

We’re often asked if it’s possible to see the auroras on nights when the moon shines brightly, as some believe its light might overshadow them. However, when the activity is really good, these nights are often the most magical: not only can you witness the auroras dancing across the sky, but you can also admire the moonlight reflecting off the mountains, creating stunning silhouettes and soft shadows.

It’s a breathtaking harmony of earth and sky that reminds us to pause and marvel at nature’s incredible beauty.

🌊 Orcas & Humpback Whales: Arctic Giants in Harmony 🐋

Did you know that during the feeding season in Skjervøy, orcas and humpback whales often hunt in the same waters?

While they don’t always interact directly, their presence creates an unforgettable marine spectacle.

✨ Fun facts about their Arctic connection:
1️⃣ Team Players? When orcas and humpbacks are feeding, it can seem as though they are “collaborating,” as both species target herring during this season. However, orcas are more strategic in their efforts and are known to keep a safe distance from the massive humpbacks.

This is a very unique place to see both animals feeding at the same time!!

2️⃣ Different Styles: Orcas are master strategists, using advanced hunting techniques like corralling fish into tight “bait balls” and stunning their prey with powerful tail slaps. In contrast, humpback whales often takes a more opportunistic approach. They’ll swoop in and engulf the bait balls created by orcas or even take advantage of fish stirred up by fishing boats. With their massive mouths, humpbacks can swallow large quantities of prey in a single, sweeping motion, making them highly efficient yet opportunistic feeders.

3️⃣ Seasonal Visitors: Whales migrate thousands of kilometers to feed in the rich Arctic waters before heading south for the winter.

interesting fact: The third photo features a fin whale, another species that can be found in Skjervøy during the season.
