“LA1K” 100 Years!

Our club was founded in 1923 and for the centennial anniversary in 2023 we held a special banquet and transmitted using the special call "LA100K". In it's infancy, the Norwegian radio clubs didn't have call signs, as it wasn't yet issued in Norway, and transmitting was heavily regulated. But 100 years ago to this day, ARK recieved it's callsign "LA1K" on the 15th of July, 1926....

LA/NT-225 Klompan is a summit in Indre Fosen, on the opposite side of the Trondheimfjord. We have been considering activating it for SOTA for a while now. To reach the mountain, you just need to take a ferry from Trondheim to Vanvikan, and then you can start the hike, no car required! Very tempting for us students...

After a solid result of seven new licensees concluding this spring's exam, a retake exam was hosted in May for the qualified candidates. SOTA activation of LA/ST-012 on International Workers’ day

On May 1st, we took a break from exam studying to celebrate International Workers’ Day with a SOTA trip to LA/ST-012 Solemsvåttan. The trip started at Studentersamfundet, where we packed our bags before we took the bus to Reppe to start our hike. The bus took about 45 minutes, and after about an hour of hiking we reached the top. Emil, LB6GH and LB1HH arrived later, biking to Reppe instead of taking the bus....

The QSOs of 2025

Last year, we did a recap of the QSO statistics for the year. We found it interesting, so we did the same this year. The QSOs are not exactly evenly distributed throughout the year. Instead, a few weeks account for a large proportion of the total QSOs. There are two weeks with more than 2000 QSOs and 5 weeks with more than 1000 QSOs....

We Celebrated International Women’s Day with a YL POTA Party!

When International Women’s Day fell on a Sunday, the YL POTA Party gave us the perfect excuse to celebrate the way ARK knows best: by getting on the air. For our first SOTA adventure of the year, we headed for LA/NT-162 Lauvlia. It is one of the many yet‑to‑be‑activated summits in Nord-Trøndelag in the Meråker area, about a 1.5‑hour drive from Trondheim. SOTA Snow Tour to LA/ST-174 Jamtfjellet

It's snow season again, which is no excuse for not going on SOTA hikes. In fact, it's the perfect opportunity to finally get the skis and snowshoes out and enjoy the snow. On 6th December, we took our first SOTA trip of the season in the snow. LB5DH found a nice summit, which was twice activated before from LA9DSA in May 2020 and in April 2023....
