Change of company name to Sweden Outdoor Life!

We believe you want to live nature, not just visit it. My guide colleague Adam, Katarina, and I (Ruben) want you to actually experience the outdoor life of the Swedish mountains. We believe our new name Sweden Outdoor Life better reflect this dream of ours.

The region we focus on, Laponia in Sweden (with a tourist centre called Naturum Laponia), has accurately been called the last wilderness of Europe. Vast expanses of wilderness await you here, inhabited only by the indigenous Sami people. It is the land of natural contrast. These mountains offer northern lights and bottomless snow during winter and midnight sun with thriving wildlife during summer.

"We awaken with a panorama view of our stark, uninhabited surroundings. Its impossible not to feel the tickle of freedom here in the ”high lands”, Padjelanta. The name comes from Luleåsami, the language of the indigenous Sami people, and suggests that most of the park is above treeline. Vi continue south over rolling terrain and finally descend into Tarra valley. This valley is infamous for its thriving nature, vegetation, animals and surrounding peaks."

This was a piece of the preliminary plan for the Wilderness Cabin Trip to Padjelanta this winter. This trip will be a 12-day backcountry skiing adventure far out in the Swedish mountain wilderness. Check out the whole plan and read more here:

A certified pilot, glacier research worker, and outdoor enthusiast: Adam Toolanen, guide and founder of Backcountry Lapland

Adam has spent several years working and researching on Alaskan glaciers around Juneau and Denali National Park. He has served as head of safety & as an instructor/guide for a group of 30 glacier researchers on a two month ski expedition across an Alaskan icefield. Adam spends the majority of his free time in the mountains and tundra of northern Sweden, based in Luleå. The trips he makes involve hiking, skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, ice climbing and numerous other activities. Adam has also guided hiking trips in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Adirondacks and is certified in Wilderness First Aid. In addition, Adam is also a certified scuba diver and pilot. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in aerospace engineering at Luleå University and is looking forward to the upcoming winter hikes...
