✨The Village Born from a Yak’s Horn.
They say this village shouldn’t exist.
Legend has it that a wandering Lama, searching for a place to settle, stopped here when his yak collapsed and died. Unsure if this harsh, wind-swept ridge could support life, he planted crops inside the hollow horn of the fallen yak.
Seven days later, life sprouted from the horn.
He named the place Yak-ru (Yak Horn), which over centuries became Gyaru.
Sitting at 3,730m, watching over the Marsyangdi valley, Gyaru feels like a fortress frozen in time. While the trekkers below rush toward the pass, life up here moves at the pace of the wind—slow, deliberate, and ancient.
