Join us this October for an adventure of a lifetime get up close to Annapurna 1. βœ…πŸ‡³πŸ‡΅. On June 3, 1950, the French climbers Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal reached the summit of Annapurna 1 , making it the first eight-thousand meter peak ever successfully climbed 8091M. It took another 3 years On 29th of May 1953, That Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers confirmed to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. Both expeditions would not have succeeded without the extraordinary strength and endurance of the Sherpa community. Maurice Herzog lost all his toes and most of his fingers due to the horrific conditions they endured. Our treks do not pass above 5400M so you can best rest assured of a safe and comfortable adventure.

Machapuchare or the Fish tail. Not all mountains should be climbed. βœ…. Just admired from a distance.
Macchapuchhre Mountain sits in the Annapurna mountain range of north-central Nepal a few kilometres from Pokhara our Basecamp for all our treks. .

Height: 6,993m βœ…
Location: Annapurna Himalayas, west of Pokhara βœ… It’s visible on a clear day from Pokhara.
First Ascent: Officially Never summitedβœ… - off limits for religious reasons βœ…. Machapuchare has never been officially climbed or summited because it is considered sacred to locals and held in reverence.

According to Gurung traditions, Macchapuchhre is the abode of Lord Shiva, protector of the region. Therefore, Machapuchere Peak should not be climbed. Several legends state Lord Shiva resides among the summit rocks. Hence, climbers are not allowed to set foot on the mountain top out of respect βœ…. When you see Machapuchare from Pokhara, you will see a perfect pyramid shape and twin summit points that resemble a giant fishtail. Due to its proximity to Pokhara, Machapuchare dominates the skyline here, unlike taller peaks further away.

At sunrise and sunset, alpenglow turns Macchapucchre’s walls of snow and rock into a glowing orange spectacle. The iconic fishtail shape has become symbolic of Nepal’s natural splendor. Among Nepal’s most photogenic peaks. Like the Matterhorn of Switzerland πŸ‡¨πŸ‡. Join us for a close up look this October. Special discounts available for twin share trekkers.
