Kilimanjaro is a fulfilling achievement but not extreme by any means. The early part of the journey follows trails that ascend through the various climatic zones. Each day, you hike 4–8 hours, arriving at a well-appointed tent camp that is carried ahead by the porter staff and set up for your arrival at the end of the day. At the highest camp, you prepare for the summit day - a long hike through the night that greets the dawn from close to the summit. From here, you can absorb the grandeur of the very high elevations.
