Promote Gorkha Nepal ( a destination for Historical, Cultural and Tourism) It is a sanctuary for history enthusiasts and a city that shaped the whole nation and legends of the gallant “Gurkhas”.

Gorkha, situated at 140km west of Kathmandu at an altitude of 1,135 meter, is the ancestral hometown of the Nepal's ruling royal family. Gorkha is only 18 km up a paved road of the Pokhara-Kathmandu Highway. A brief visit on the way to or from Pokhara would provide more insights into Nepal than one is likely to get at lakeside in Pokhara. Gorkha's small town is perhaps the most important historica

l town of Nepal. From its hilltop fortess, King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the ninth generation paternal ancestor of the present King, launched his lifelong attempt to unify the independent states of Nepal, a wildly ambitious project which succeeded due to his brilliance, and the effectiveness of his locally recruited troops. The British term "Gurkha" evolved from the name Gorkha, referring to the famed fighting soldiers of the region. Gorkha's centerpiece is the magnificent Gorkha Durbar with a fort, a palace and a temple with excellent views of the surrounding valleys, and the Mansalu range.

हिम टाकुरा टेक्नका लागि मृत्युलाई जित्नुपर्छ । सबै हिमाल आफैमा कठिन हुन्छन् ।
त्यसमध्ये पनि केही यस्ता हिमाल छन्, जहाँ ज्यानलाई दाउमा राख्नुपर्छ । मनास्लु् त्यस्तै हिमाल हो । त्यसैले त यसलाई उपमा दिइएको छ, किलर माउन्टेनको । आरोहीहरु भन्छन्, ‘अरु हिमालभन्दा निकै जोखिमपूर्ण छ ।’

मनास्लुको कठोरतासँग जुध्ने सहास जो कोहिसँग छैन । त्यसैले हिमाल आरोहणको सूचीमा यो हिमाल सायदै समेटिन्छन् ।

पूणिर्मा श्रेष्ठ, जो पत्रकार पनि हुन्, उनी भने यही जोखिमसँग खेल्न तम्सिइन् । गोरखामा जन्मिएकी उनीलाई के लाग्यो भने, आफ्नै जिल्लाको हिमाल किन नचढ्ने ? उनले मनास्लु हिमाल चढ्ने योजना तय गरिन् । सुन्नेहरुले उनलाई उडाए । हुन पनि उनले ५ हजार मिटरभन्दा माथिको उचाई अनुभव गरेकै थिइनन् । त्यसमाथि दुई महिनाको मात्र तयारी ।

तर, उनको पाइला रोकिएनन् । मनास्लु हिमाल आरोहरणका लागि निस्किइन् । मनास्लुको कठोरतामाथि विजयको झन्डा गाडिन् । मनास्लु पुगेपछिको क्षणलाई उनले यसरी स्मरण गरेकी छिन्, ‘मनास्लुको टुप्पोमा पुग्दा लाग्यो, म विश्वको सबैभन्दा भाग्यमानी मानिस हुँ । यसो तल हेर्दा सूर्य पनि आफु भन्दा तल देखिने । स्वर्ग पुगे जस्तै लाग्यो । फेरी आफु उक्लिएको बाटो हेरें । त्यो बाटो हेर्दा आङ नै सिरिङ्ग भयो ।’
