Fees for Upper Mustang have been revised. Earlier trekkers to Upper Mustang had to obtain a $500 permit for a minimum of 10 days. Every extra day meant an additional $50. Now trekkers have the flexibility of getting a permit for $50 per day (No minimum number of days).

Move aims to boost tourism in the restricted region as trekking agencies push for reforms.

Tapan and team reached Everest Base Camp despite the unexpected recent snow and winds caused by Cyclone Maantha. They were able to descend to Lukla and are waiting for the weather to clear for their flight back to Kathmandu. Great job team!!!

There is calm now after the storm in the streets of Kathmandu. And I would like to present to you my account of my trek from Nar Phu to Upper Mustang (crossing the Terila pass (5,545m) in July.

MY TREK FROM NAR PHU TO UPPER MUSTANG It had been two years since my last long trek into the Himalayas - my last trek was to Makalu Base Camp in 2023.

Jwalant Gurung, Chief Adventure Officer at Crystal Mountain Treks, along with senior guide, Rajbir Rai, junior guide, Mandip Limbu and a couple other staff headed out on a 25 day scouting trek to Nar Phu, Teri La Pass and Upper Mustang. This video is their account of the Terila trek which involved crossing Terila pass from Nar village to Tangge in Upper Mustang. From Tangge, they continued onwards to the seldom-traveled Chusong (Chodzong) and Samjung villages into Lo Manthang. (Also, check out the video for the first part of their trek – the Nar-Phu trek). They began trekking in late June which is usually not ideal for viewing mountains. But this video should give our viewers good information on the trail which is our goal.

Everest permit cost increases from $11,000 to $15,000 per person. But 97 new peaks in Western Nepal opened up and permit cost is $0. We need some first ascent enthusiasts to come over.

Ninety-seven remote mountains in Karnali and Sudurpaschim opened for free ascent.
