In light of the recent flash floods in north-central Nepal, particularly affecting the Rasuwa and Bhote Koshi river corridors, we want to share a transparent, location-by-location update regarding local conditions, access routes, and travel plans.
First and foremost, our hearts go out to the communities, families, and emergency teams on the ground in the affected northern regions. We extend our deepest sympathy and solidarity to everyone impacted by this tragic event.
To give you complete clarity on how destinations and transit routes stand right now, as well as what to expect in the coming days, weeks, and months, here is our operational status across Nepal:
• Kathmandu Valley and Urban Hubs: Entirely safe and fully functional. Tribhuvan International Airport, hotels, heritage sites, and local tours are operating normally. Domestic flights across the country remain the most reliable and uninterrupted way to travel.
• Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini, and Bardiya: All core tourist hubs, hotels, and safari activities in these destinations are completely secure and open.
Road Access Status: Overland highways occasionally experience temporary closures or traffic controls due to seasonal monsoon rains and localized debris clearances. Clearance teams work swiftly to restore traffic flow, and domestic flights operate continuously as a seamless alternative.
• Annapurna, Everest, and Mustang Regions: Fully safe and operational. These primary trekking destinations lie entirely outside the flood corridor. Mountain flights, teahouses, and trails remain completely open for the upcoming autumn season.
• Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley: The high trails, mountain passes, and teahouses remain untouched and completely safe.
Road Access Status: While standard lower highway sections near Malekhu experience seasonal monsoon maintenance, alternative driving routes via Benighat and Arughat are accessible, allowing trips to proceed safely for the autumn season.
• Langtang and Gosaikunda Routes (Rasuwa District): The main valley road and lower entry points near Syabrubesi suffered major structural damage from the flood surge.
Immediate Status: Primary vehicle access routes remain closed while emergency clearing and infrastructure stabilization continue. However, foot trail access points are actively being cleared, with one main access route already on the verge of reopening.
Alternative Routes and Autumn Outlook: Unaffected alternative bypass routes are accessible for travelers seeking to trek this region without delay. While these paths require additional travel days to navigate around damaged valley sections, they offer complete safety and uninterrupted scenic beauty. As ground repair works progress over the coming weeks, standard access is expected to progressively normalize for peak autumn trekking. For all guests booked on these routes, our team is reaching out directly to discuss safe alternative options or necessary itinerary adjustments.
