Weโve been receiving quite a few messages lately from trekkers saying theyโre being told they must hire a guide to trek in the Annapurna region. Just to clarify things for everyone:
For well-established trails like
๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐โ๐ท๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐, solo trekking is still allowed. These routes are well marked, have frequent teahouses, and see plenty of trekkers every day.
You do not have to hire a guide for these trails.
That said, trekking with a guide can still be a great experience. A good guide can help with safety during sudden weather changes, local knowledge, culture and stories, and updated trail information. Many trekkers choose guides for these reasons, but it should always be your decision, not something you feel pressured into.

โข Get your ACAP permit from NTNC
โข Take a bus, flight, or local jeep to the trailhead
โข Start trekking and organize your teahouses along the way.
If youโre having trouble figuring out permits, transportation, weather updates, or if you later decide you want a guide, feel free to reach out to us. Weโre always happy to help with information โ even if youโre trekking independently.
The Himalayas are best enjoyed with good information and the freedom to travel your own way.
Safe trekking everyone. ๐๏ธ
