We are here with a message from Nojal Koirala, an educator and passionate advocate for Nepal’s tourism industry.
He has over 11 years of experience in the academic field and has witnessed both the untapped potential and challenges of Nepal’s tourism sector. Among Nepal’s key economic sectors (hydropower, agriculture, and tourism), he believes tourism is a “sleeping giant” that thrives on people, stories, and culture, needing recognition more than investment.
In 2024, he helped redesign Pokhara University’s BBA (Travel and Tourism) curriculum to be practical, industry-focused, and globally relevant, covering areas like:
- Airlines operations and travel software (GDS)
- Cultural and heritage tourism
- Digital marketing, entrepreneurship, and sustainability
- Adventure, rural, and wildlife tourism
- Destination branding and hospitality
Despite this, awareness of such programs remains low. He emphasizes the importance of spreading the word to the youth and their families, reminding everyone that: “Tourism is not just a job, it is a profession of pride, national service, and global impact.”
