Our honest answer, even though it costs us nothing to say yes: तपाईंले छुट्टै पैसा तिर्नु पर्दैन।

Every accredited CPL programme abroad already includes ground school in the fees you are paying. Pre-departure ground classes in Kathmandu are, in most cases, the same syllabus sold to you a second time. That money belongs in your child's flight training — not in a classroom they will sit in again overseas. 💰

"Degree garne, ki सिधै CPL?" — after fees, this is the question parents ask us most. 🙏

Honest answer: both paths are real, and both work. Here's the difference —

✈️ Standalone CPL — the most direct route to the licence. Your child trains for one thing: flying.

🎓 Bachelor's + Integrated CPL — 3 to 4 years (India ~3 yrs, Philippines ~4 yrs, Australia ~3 yrs). Takes longer, but they come home with a university degree AND a commercial pilot licence — a safety net if life or the industry ever changes course.

There is no "best" option — only the best fit for your family's goals and budget. Be careful of anyone who pushes one route without asking about YOUR situation first.

"पाइलट पढ्न विदेश जान के के कागज चाहिन्छ?" — this is one of the first questions parents ask us. 🙏

Here's the honest, simple answer: before your child can join any flight school abroad, TWO government approvals (NOCs) are required — not one.

✅ Step 1: CAAN Recommendation Letter — from the Flight Safety Standards Department, Sinamangal. This needs the Class 1 Medical, +2 Science certificates, passport, an offer letter from a CAAN-validated school, and a passing COMPASS result. Fee: USD 125 + 13% VAT (subject to change).

✅ Step 2: Ministry of Education NOC — Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, or online at noc.moest.gov.np. Usually 2–5 working days.

The mistake families make: starting Step 2 before finishing Step 1. The Ministry asks for the CAAN letter first — wrong order means lost weeks, and sometimes a missed intake date.

✈️ Preparing for pilot training? Here's a test most families haven't heard of until it's already booked.

The COMPASS™ test is required by CAAN before any Nepali student can start CPL training abroad — and it's not something you can cram for overnight. It checks natural abilities like coordination, spatial thinking, memory, and quick decision-making under a bit of pressure.

The good news: 2-3 weeks of steady daily practice (20-30 min) is genuinely enough. One module needs real joystick and rudder pedal practice though — not something a keyboard can prepare you for.

SAC is an officially authorised COMPASS testing centre in Kathmandu. We run hardware practice sessions on the exact equipment used in the real test, and guide Ab-Initio students through the whole CAAN booking process.
