The Langtang Valley Trek leading up to Kyanjin Gompa is widely regarded as one of Nepal's most beautiful, culturally immersive, and accessible tea-house trekking routes. Situated just north of Kathmandu inside the Langtang National Park, it offers a dramatic shift from subtropical forests to alpine glacial valleys over just a few days.
Here is a comprehensive breakdown of the trek:
Highlights
• Kyanjin Gompa & Local Culture: Explore the centuries-old Buddhist monastery nestled under towering peaks, experience the rich Tibetan-influenced Tamang heritage, and visit the famous local Yak Cheese Factory.
• Panoramic Viewpoints: A rest day at Kyanjin Gompa opens up options to hike Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) or the more strenuous Tserko Ri (4,985m) for flawless 360^\circ views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Yala Peak, and Dorje Lakpa.
• Langtang National Park Ecosystem: The trail weaves through dense forests of oak, maple, and blooming red rhododendrons, offering a chance to spot rare wildlife like the Red Panda, Himalayan Tahr, and langurs.
