🇳🇵 DNA IDENTIFICATION WORK CONTINUES IN NEPAL
Nepal’s forensic teams are continuing to compare DNA from recovered remains with samples provided by families searching for missing loved ones after the Rasuwa–Bhotekoshi flood.
Although testing is progressing, no new confirmed identification total or confirmed foreign-national match has been publicly announced today.
Authorities must verify every potential result with additional evidence, including fingerprints, dental records and post-mortem details, before officially identifying a victim or handing over remains to a family.

🇳🇵🚫 TSUM VALLEY TREK REMAINS CLOSED AFTER BRIDGE COLLAPSE
The Tsum Valley trekking route remains temporarily closed after a cantilever bridge collapsed along the trail.
The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) said repair work is underway and the route could reopen in approximately one week, depending on the progress and safety assessment.
Trekkers are advised to wait for an official reopening notice before travelling to Tsum Valley.

🇳🇵🏔️ MANASLU LARKE PASS TREK PARTIALLY REOPENS AFTER BUDHI GANDAKI FLOOD
The Manaslu Larke Pass Trek is accessible again after roads, trails, bridges and teahouse lodges damaged by the 11 October 2026 Budhi Gandaki flood were partially restored.
According to the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), vehicles can travel as far as Machhakhola, where trekkers can begin the route toward Jagat, Nyak Phedi and Larke Pass.
A 10-minute alternative trail at Yaru Bagar has also been created to bypass a badly damaged and difficult section.
⚠️ The route is open with caution. Conditions remain affected, so trekkers should confirm trail conditions with registered agencies, use experienced guides and follow local safety instructions.

🇳🇵🥾 LANGTANG REGION OPEN FOR TREKKING — TAAN DETAILS TWO ROUTES
The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) says the Langtang, Kyanjin and Gosaikunda areas are safe and open for trekking.
Following the installation of a Bailey bridge at Betrawati, trekkers now have two main route options:
Option 1: Direct road access
Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche or Thulosyabru via Trishuli and Betrawati, then begin the trek through Bamboo, Lama Hotel, Langtang and Kyanjin.
Option 2: Gosaikunda route
Travel from Kathmandu through Chisapani, Helambu, Tharepati, Ghopte and Gosaikunda, then continue via Thulo Syabru, Bamboo, Lama Hotel, Langtang and Kyanjin.
Trekkers should still check local conditions and travel with registered guides or trekking agencies.

🇲🇾📱 MISSING MALAYSIANS’ LAST PHONE SIGNALS: WHAT THE FOREIGN MINISTER TOLD PARLIAMENT ON 22 OCTOBER
In his 22 October 2026 briefing to Parliament, Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said last-known phone signals and trekking registration records indicated that most of the 54 missing Malaysians were believed to have been along the route affected by the 26 August disaster.
He said the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu continued working with local authorities, trekking checkpoints and municipal officials to pursue remaining leads.

🇳🇵 TIBET EARTHQUAKE: NO CONFIRMED DAMAGE IN NEPAL SO FAR
Following the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck northern Tibet on October 22, no damage, injuries or deaths in Nepal have been confirmed in the reports reviewed as of October 23.
The reported destruction is centred around Baqen County in Nagqu, northern Tibet, where rescue operations are continuing.
Whether the shaking was felt in Nepal remains unconfirmed. The reports reviewed do not include confirmation from Nepal’s National Earthquake Monitoring Centre about local effects.
