Maurice Herzog is one of the most influential people in the mountaineering world. The late alpinist shocked the community with his skills to ascend what is considered to be a dangerous mountain in Nepal, Mount Annapurna, in a single go.

It is almost impossible for people to ascend the mountain in a single try as not only is the eight thousander dangerous, the height is just as tough to reach. He became the first person in France to ever climb a mountain of about 8000m with this feat.

Mont Ross is the highest mountain in the Kerguelen Islands. It stands tall at the height of 1850m. Mont Ross is not a mere mountain but a volcano. Volcanic activities were said to be active during the late Pleistocene period. The eruptives are either 2 million or 100,000 years old. Likewise, Mont Ross is also known as one of the youngest volcanoes.

The skiing and mountaineering community was shocked by the tragic death of Christophe Henry and Juan Senoret on October 11, 2023. Christophe and Senoret were skiing in Volcan Puntiagudo in Chilean Andes where they met with such tragedy. Both of them were proficient in their fields.
