आज राती स्वयम्भू महाचैत्यको आकाशमा स्वयम्भूको छाँया दर्शन हुन्छ भन्ने मान्यता रहेको छ।सो छाँयाको दर्शन गर्न धर्मावलंबीहरू राती स्वयम्भू महाचैत्यमा आउँछन्। आज विशेषगरि ललितपुरको बाहिरी भेगका (लुभु,हरिसिद्धि,बज्रवाराहि,वा ) धर्मावलंबीहरू स्वयम्भू महाचैत्यमा बास बसी आफ्ना दिवंगत आफन्त हरूको नाममा वत्ती बाल्छन्, भजन किर्तन गर्छन् र विहान स्वयम्भूका बुद्धाचार्य गुरूज्यूहरूलाई श्रदापूर्वक दान दिएर घर फर्कन्छन्।आजको रातलाई जुग चा पनि भनिन्छ ।

Today the shadow of the Swayambhu Mahachaitya appears in the sky above Swayambhu Mahachaity itself. Devotees from far and wide gather at Swayambhu Mahachaitya on this auspicious night, hoping to witness this celestial sign. Today, devotees ,pilgrims especially from the outer regions of Lalitpur (Lubhu, Harisidhi, Bajravarahi, Va) travel to Swayambhu Mahachaitya ,and spend the night there in reverence.They light butter lamps in the memory of their departed loved ones, perform bhajan kirtan and in the dawn the pilgrims offer alms (Panchadan) to the priests of swoyambhu the Buddhacharya’s before returning back to their respective places.The night is also known as juga cha.
