A magnificent yak grazes in the alpine meadows along the Khopra Danda Trek, also known as the Khopra Ridge Trek.

At 3,660 meters, the ridge viewpoint overlooks the Kali Gandaki Valley and faces the Dhaulagiri range, with sweeping views of about 23 Himalayan peaks.

Khopra Danda is known for its wide mountain views, including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m). The trail also offers close-up views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Nilgiri North and South, and Dhampus Peak.

Machhapuchhre looks particularly impressive from this trail, which makes Khopra Ridge a popular viewpoint for capturing classic Himalayan photographs.

The route also descends from alpine meadows with grazing yaks to terraced farmlands and traditional villages, showcasing Nepal’s rich natural landscapes and mountain culture.

Which Annapurna region trek would you choose for your next adventure?

On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, Nepal Sanctuary Treks extends heartfelt wishes for peace, harmony, and enlightenment to all.

This sacred day holds deep significance as the “Triple Blessed Day.” It marks three important events in the life of Siddhartha Gautama: his birth, his enlightenment (Nirvana), and his passing (Parinirvana). All three events are believed to have taken place on the same full moon day in the month of Baisakh.
On this sacred day, many people reaffirm their commitment to the Panchasil, the core ethical guidelines for a virtuous life. These principles include avoiding harm to living beings, stealing, sexual misconduct, false speech, and intoxicants.

This stunning view captures a traditional Kani gate (also known as a chorten) along the iconic Manaslu Circuit Trek, with the magnificent Mount Manaslu towering in the background.

Kani gates mark sacred entrances to villages and holy sites in Buddhist regions. They symbolize protection and spiritual passage, inviting trekkers to walk through with respect and mindfulness. Intricate carvings and prayer details reflect the region’s deep Buddhist culture

The Manaslu Circuit is more than just a trek. It is a journey through breathtaking landscapes and living spiritual heritage.

Have you ever walked through a place that felt truly sacred?

In the heart of the Himalayas, every stone tells a story.

Mani stones are flat or rounded stones carved with the sacred mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum.” They are more than art. They represent the soul of the trail.

Historically, these stones were believed to be homes for deities and tribal protectors, serving as sacred boundary markers.

Placed along roads, and high mountain passes for safety and spiritual merit, they have grown over centuries into the magnificent sacred walls we see today.

To honor this living heritage, we always pass them on the left, walking in a clockwise direction as a sign of deep respect.

Wishing you a very Happy Nepali New Year 2083!

Nepali New Year, also known as Nava Varsha, falls on the first day of Baisakh in the Bikram Sambat calendar. Nepal uses the Bikram Sambat (B.S.) calendar, which runs about 56 to 57 years ahead of the Gregorian system. It usually occurs in mid-April in the Gregorian calendar, with slight variations each year due to differences between lunar and solar calculations.

It marks the arrival of spring and the start of the agricultural season. This timing follows natural and seasonal rhythms, connects ancient astronomical traditions with modern cycles, and marks the shift from spring to summer. It keeps daily life closely connected with nature.

It is also closely tied to agriculture, marking the end of the harvest season and the start of preparations for new crops. This period becomes a time of renewal and reflection, where people set new goals, embrace change, and welcome fresh beginnings.

Across the country, people visit temples, gather with family, share meals, and join cultural celebrations like Biska Jatra in Bhaktapur. These traditions highlight Nepal’s rich heritage and strong community spirit.

At Nepal Sanctuary Treks, we celebrate this moment as a reminder of our connection to nature, culture, and one another.

Here’s to fresh starts, meaningful journeys, and new adventures ahead.

Ghode Jatra, also called the Festival of Horses, is a lively annual celebration in Kathmandu, Nepal. The main attraction is a colorful horse parade at Tundikhel, featuring beautifully decorated horses from both the Nepal Army and local riders.

The festival is rooted in legend, celebrating the triumph over a local demon named Tundi. It is believed that the faster the horses run, the quicker evil spirits flee from the city!

Visitors can witness the thrilling horse race at Tundikhel, a tradition that has continued for centuries.
