Nepal Tourism Promotion through Sri Lankan Travel Trade AGM

Nepal Tourism Board showcased Nepal's diverse tourism experiences and MICE opportunities to the Sri Lankan travel fraternity during the IAASL (IATA Agents Association of Sri Lanka) and TAASL (Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka) Annual General Meetings, held in Kathmandu.

The presence of leading travel industry professionals from Sri Lanka, along with H.E. Ruwanthi Delpitiya, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal, reflects the growing confidence in Nepal as a destination for international gatherings and business events.

🇧🇩Bangladesh Corporate Delegation Visits Nepal🇳🇵

Nepal continues to welcome international visitors with confidence, warmth and open arms. A 185-member corporate delegation from Bangladesh, representing Walton Plaza, arrived in Kathmandu, reaffirming the strong appeal of Nepal as a destination for business and leisure travel.

Their visit reflects the growing confidence of international travellers in Nepal and highlights the country’s welcoming hospitality, diverse experiences and safe, accessible destinations. Such visits are also strengthening the tourism and corporate ties between Nepal and Bangladesh.

British broadcaster, travel writer and disability rights advocate Sophie Morgan recently visited Nepal and shared her experiences of travel, adventure, accessibility and inclusion. At “Journeys Without Barriers: Sophie Morgan in Nepal,” held on Friday at Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu, Morgan reflected on her journey across Nepal, including her travels from Kathmandu to Upper Mustang, and shared valuable perspectives on making Nepal’s tourism experiences more accessible to travellers with disabilities.

Highlighting Nepal’s warm and hospitable culture as a strong foundation for inclusive tourism, Morgan emphasized that systemic improvements, including accessible infrastructure and accurate, reliable accessibility information, are essential to enabling travellers with disabilities to explore Nepal with greater independence and confidence.She also called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders, improved accessibility information and investment in accessible infrastructure to help Nepal realize its potential as an inclusive tourism destination.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sunil Sharma, Officiating Director of Nepal Tourism Board, highlighted that tourists with disabilities, along with their families and companions, represent an important and growing opportunity for destinations such as Nepal.

Nepal took an important step towards accessible tourism by opening its first accessible trekking trail in Kaskikot in 2018, which has also been recognized as a certified accessible trail.

Situation Update | Manaslu Trekking Route

The Manaslu trekking route in Gorkha has resumed operations following repair and maintenance of sections of the trail and bridge infrastructure affected by recent flooding.

According to the District Administration Office, Gorkha, the damaged structures along the route connecting Chumnubri Rural Municipality–4, Namrung, have been restored to a condition suitable for trekking. The earlier restriction on trekking in the affected section has therefore been lifted.

Travellers planning to trek in the Manaslu region are advised to remain updated on local conditions and follow necessary safety precautions while travelling.
Manaslu is accessible. Nepal continues to welcome travellers.

In close coordination with Tourist Police, relevant government agencies and tourism associations, NTB is operating dedicated Help Desks at Nepal Tourism Board office in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, and at the Domestic and International spaces of Tribhuvan International Airport, following the recent floods, to provide information, coordination and support to those affected.

Information & Data Collection: Collecting and updating information regarding casualties and missing persons, including foreign tourists and Nepali tourism workers.

Family Liaison: Assisting affected tourists, tourism workers and their families in establishing contact with their respective handling companies and relevant stakeholders.

Coordination & Facilitation: Providing necessary support, coordinating with concerned agencies, and sharing verified information updates with those concerned.

The Help Desks remain in continuous operation, with regular coordination and facilitation underway to support those affected.
