Happy Buddha Jayanti and International Labour Day! 🕊️

Today, we celebrate Buddha Jayanti, the most sacred day in the Buddhist calendar. It honors the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Lord Buddha. A triple celebration of the "Light of Asia" that radiates through our valley, from the spires of Swayambhunath and Boudha to the peaceful heights of Namobuddha and the caves of Pharping.

As we walk these ancient paths, we also pause to honor International Labour Day. It is the hands of the workers—the builders, the artisans, and our incredible local leaders—who keep the spirit and heritage of our city alive every single day.

Wishing you a day of rest, reflection, and deep gratitude. Happy Buddha Jayanti and Happy Labour Day from the Intrepid team! 🙏✨

P.S. While Labour Day is fixed on May 1st, Buddha Jayanti follows the lunar calendar (falling on the full moon). This year, the stars aligned to bring these two celebrations of spirit and service together on the very same day! 🌕

They say a is the heartbeat of the home, but in our streets, she is the heartbeat of the entire city.
From the quiet morning prayers by the temple to the golden hour chats in a hidden alleyway; from the bustling energy of our squares to the tireless hands working in the fields—the spirit of the "Mother" is everywhere we look.
On this Mata Tirtha Aunsi, we’re celebrating the women who nurture our heritage and the soil that sustains us. Just like the ancient bricks of Kathmandu, their love is the foundation that keeps us standing.
Whether she’s a guide, an artisan, a farmer, or a storyteller—today we honor the original explorers.
Happy Mother’s Day from the heart of the city! 🇳🇵✨

Happy New Year 2083B.S
Naya Barsha 2083 ko Shubhakamana from the streets of Kathmandu! 🇳🇵

There is no energy quite like during . Watching the massive chariot move through roaring crowds is a powerful reminder: progress happens when we pull together.
Just like the legendary tug-of-war that defines this festival, life and travel often pull us in different directions. But with a shared purpose, resilience, and a bit of collective spirit, we can move anything.
As we kick off the Nepali New Year, we’re carrying that same "Biska energy" into our adventures. Here’s to a year of bold beginnings, unshakable spirit, and meaningful connections across the globe.
Let’s make 2083 a year of unstoppable journeys, as Urban Adventures!

Pancha Dan: The Festival of Giving

Kathmandu Valley comes alive with color, devotion, and generosity during , one of the most cherished Buddhist festivals. Locals celebrate by offering five precious elements—grains, money, fruit, butter, and incense—to monks and sacred sites.

Pancha Dan is more than just giving; it’s a beautiful way to share blessings, peace, and harmony with everyone around you. Watching the Dipankara Buddha decorated with these offerings is truly a peaceful and inspiring sight.

Whether you’re a local or a traveler, Pancha Dan is a perfect reminder of the joy that comes from generosity and mindfulness.

Nepal’s most hilarious, heartfelt & chaotic street parade – G*I JATRA!

A mashup of mourning and satire, sacred cows and cross-dressing kids, ancient rituals and stick-slamming dance battles — this festival is truly one of a kind.

Celebrated on the first day of the waning moon in Bhadra, G*i Jatra began as a way to honor the departed. But today, it’s a mask-filled, no-rules celebration of life, death, and everything in between.

- Cows (or kids dressed as cows) guide souls to the afterlife,
- Satire steals the spotlight,
- Boys dress as girls (and vice versa) — because rules don’t apply,
- Ancient ta***ic mask dances bring gods and spirits to life
- And the iconic Ghintang Ghisi stick dance turns streets into a rhythmic, street concert

It’s chaos. It’s culture. It’s catharsis.
This is G*i Jatra.
