Weather Alert and Travel Safety Advisory
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, has forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in various parts of from 25 to 27 September 2026 (9 to 11 Ashoj, 2083). Visitors are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions while travelling during this period. Heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of and Provinces, with the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. Also, extremely heavy rainfall is forecast in many parts of , , Bagmati and Sudurpashchim Provinces, while some areas of Karnali Province may receive heavy rainfall.
Travel Safety Advisory
Visitors travelling to mountainous and high-altitude areas near river basins are encouraged to take extra precautions, as weather conditions can change rapidly and snowfall may occur in higher elevations.
For a safe and enjoyable journey, visitors are advised to:
• Check the latest weather forecast and official advisories before committing to next part of the journey.
• Stay updated on road, flight and trekking route conditions.
• Avoid travel to areas affected by severe weather or identified as high-risk.
• Exercise particular caution near rivers, streams, steep slopes and areas prone to landslides.
• Avoid trekking, mountaineering and other outdoor activities during unsafe weather conditions.
• Follow safety instructions issued by local authorities, security agencies, tourism professionals and other relevant officials.
• Pre-emptively stay or more to safe places based on weather conditions & in advice of tour operators.
