My journey in the tourism industry began in 2008 as a porter. Over the years, I advanced to become a guide, and later, a certified guide. In January 2015, I took a bold step and founded my own company. As the company has grown, I’ve remained comm
itted to the professional development of my team. I’ve mentored many of our staff, helping them rise from porters to guides, and eventually become certified guides themselves. This growth has enabled us to create more job opportunities, supporting not just individuals but their families as well—especially during times of financial hardship. We have faced significant challenges, including the devastating earthquake in 2015 and the global pandemic in 2020. These events deeply affected both our company and the nation. However, through resilience and teamwork, we have overcome many obstacles and continue to move forward with strength and optimism. In recent years, we’ve also become more aware of gender disparities within the tourism industry—such as unequal access to opportunities, power imbalances, and exploitation. In response, we are actively promoting gender equity by hiring female guides and collaborating with women-owned businesses. Despite the challenges, Nepal remains one of the most extraordinary travel destinations in the world.
