Indra Jatra:traditionally known as Yenyā, is one of the biggest street festivals in Nepal. The eight-day celebration is, in fact, a collection of two to three celebrations combined into one big festival. The festival begins with Yosin Thanegu, the pole-raising ceremony which is attended by hundreds of devotees. During the festival, the masks of Bhairava are also displayed throughout the eight days. The celebrations coincide with Kumari Jatra where a special chariot carrying the Living Goddess Kumari is pulled along the main areas of Kathmandu.

The celebrations in the Terai region are different from how it is celebrated in the hills and is known as Indra Puja.
