It takes place over a single day—a festival known only to the initiated: the Dhepkep Festival.

It is a vibrant celebration where monks don masks representing various deities. Traditional musical instruments resound, and the monks perform a lively dance that unites the entire community.

This sacred performance aims to ward off bad omens and misfortune while bringing prosperity, well-being, and abundant harvests to the community.

And now is the perfect time to start planning for it 😉

Annapurna Circuit (Thorong La Pass)
or
Upper Mustang.

You probably don't want to get stuck in the autumn crowds on the trails to Everest and that’s completely understandable.
You also don't want to spend too much time traveling just to reach your trek's starting point.

But above all, you figure that a trek near Kathmandu could be just as rewarding. We agree the Langtang Valley trek is underrated.

And if you’re looking to reach higher altitudes, you can climb Tserko Ri (5,150 m). You can also stop a bit lower down at the viewpoints of Tsergo Ri (4,984 m) and Kianjin Ri (4,773 m).

Then there’s the sacred lake of Gosaikunda, too.
