Norwegian mountaineer Kristin Harila successfully summited Mount Everest at 8:45 a.m. this morning (May 27) without the use of supplemental oxygen, according to Seven Summit Treks.

Harila was accompanied by her longtime guide Mingtemba Sherpa and climber Dukpa Sherpa during the successful ascent.

The summit also marked the completion of the “Triple Crown Challenge” for Harila and Mingtemba, who recently climbed three major Himalayan peaks in quick succession during the Spring 2026 season.

Their challenge included:

➤ Nuptse on May 17
➤ Lhotse on May 21 (with supplemental oxygen)
➤ Mount Everest on May 27 without supplemental oxygen

Harila is widely known for setting the speed record for climbing all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks.

Nepali climber Kami Rita Sherpa, 56, has reached the summit of Mount Everest for a record 32nd time, extending his own record for the highest number of ascents of the world’s tallest peak.

The Department of Tourism said Sherpa reached the summit at 10:12am on Sunday. The successful ascent was confirmed by the department’s field office stationed at Everest Base Camp.
