Frozen in time 💙

After the summit we would take shelter under the south summit. The sun started to raise, wind started to pick up and the iconic summit drift appeared around us.

It was mesmerising to see the other 8000m standing out of the clouds, the lenticular clouds being formed but you could definitely feel the frozen winds freezing layer over all the gear.

We stopped there for a moment, enjoyed the views and energised. From the saddle is a 20m climb up the south summit again and then a mellow slope down the south east ridge of Everest .

The Everest South Col route, the classic path to the summit, begins at the South Col, a high-altitude pass at 8,000 meters. Climbers rest briefly here, preparing for the final push amidst thin air and freezing temperatures.

The summit push typically starts around midnight. Climbers, guided by their headlamps, first reach the Balcony at 8,400 meters for a brief rest. The path then steepens towards the South Summit, a false summit that precedes the daunting Hillary Step. This near-vertical rock face requires careful navigation and intense focus.

Beyond the Hillary Step, the final ridge leads to the summit at 8,848 meters. Each step is a test of endurance, but the reward is unparalleled. Reaching the summit provides breathtaking views and a profound sense of accomplishment, embodying the spirit of adventure and the pursuit of dreams.
