Kathmandu. Due to the limited number of flights, fierce competition has started in the Nepal-India flight which has been in operation for two years. At the same time, the Kathmandu-Delhi-Kathmandu two-way fare, which once averaged Rs 100,000, has now dropped to Rs 16,000. Due to the limited number of flights on this route, the one-way airfare was up to Rs 52,000, which has now dropped to around Rs 8,000.
According to Archana Khadka, spokesperson of the Nepal Airlines Corporation, the current one-way airfare from Kathmandu-Delhi or Uttar Pradesh is only Rs 8,300.
Similarly, the initial round trip fare of Air India on the Delhi-Kathmandu-Delhi flight is now Rs 17,000, according to the General Sales Agent (GSA) President International based in Nepal. Air India has recently come under the ownership of Tata Group.
Due to Kovid, the national flag carriers of the two countries have been flying only seven times a year and now other private airlines have also started flying. At the same time, as the competition intensifies, the air fares of the destinations of these two countries have come down sharply.
Two years later, the private international airline started its service on February 16. At the same time, the competition is fierce.
Tata-owned Vistara Airlines has also fixed a two-way airfare of Rs 18,600 for the Delhi-Kathmandu-Delhi route.
Since the beginning of Covid, only the flag carriers of both the countries (Nepal Airlines Corporation and Air India) have been providing regular Nepal-India flights. In the last one week, IndiGo and Vistara Airlines of India have started flying.
With the amendment of the Air Bubble Agreement, private airlines have also started flying from Wednesday, at which time the 'cutthroat competition' in air fares has returned to its previous rhythm.

The Nepal Airlines Corporation, which is currently operating only seven flights a year to Kathmandu-Delhi, is in the process of launching flights to Mumbai and Bangalore in India. But the schedule has not been made public yet. Corporation spokesperson Archana Khadka said, "We have already written to India to start regular flights to two destinations other than Delhi. We will make the schedule public as soon as we get permission from Uta. '
Similarly, the Indian flag carrier Air India, which is currently operating seven Delhi-Kathmandu-Delhi flights a year, has also stated that it plans to increase the number of Delhi-Kathmandu flights from March 27 and also start flights from Kolkata to Kathmandu.
An employee of Air India's Nepal office says, 'The slot is yet to be finalized. But we have planned to operate two-way Kolkata-Kathmandu flight from March 27. At the same time, we will increase the number of flights to Delhi.
Before Covid, the company had flown to the destination four times a week. The company has stated that it is preparing to operate four flights a week from March 27.
"We are planning to operate two daily flights to Delhi. Along with this is Kolkata. We have proposed to resume flights to Bangalore and Mumbai. Let's see what happens next. ' The employee said.
The company has stated that the initial flight fare has dropped to Rs 8,000 with the addition of other airlines. Akhand Bajracharya, president of reservations and marketing at President International, says: If it falls below this, it will be difficult to raise the operating cost.
However, India's budget airlines are also planning to operate three flights a year to Mumbai-Kathmandu from March 2. It remains to be seen what effect this will have on rent.
Air India has also fixed promotional fairs for Kathmandu-Mumbai. The company has kept the initial fare at around Rs 18,000 and said that the fare will be adjusted after a month and a half depending on the situation.
Bajracharya informed that the company has fixed the initial fare at Rs.
