Bisket Jatra is a vibrant and ancient festival celebrated in Bhaktapur to mark the Nepali New Year, usually in April. Rooted in legend, it symbolizes the triumph over evil, with stories of slain serpents and broken curses. The highlight is the dramatic tug-of-war of massive chariots carrying the deities Bhairab and Bhadrakali through the cityโ€™s narrow streets, along with the er****on and ceremonial toppling of a towering wooden pole (Yosin). With traditional music, rituals, and community spirit, Bisket Jatra is a powerful expression of Newar culture and Bhaktapurโ€™s living heritage.
