It has been confirmed that Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja (Nims dai) . has lost his life after being caught in the avalanche on Broad Peak in Pakistan. 😥

May he rest in peace, and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire mountaineering community.

🚨BREAKING: Nirmal Purja among 10 climbers missing after Broad Peak avalanche in Pakistan.

A major search and rescue operation is underway in the Karakoram range after a massive avalanche on Broad Peak (8,047m) struck a 10-member international expedition led by world-renowned mountaineer Nirmal "Nims" Purja.

The avalanche hit the upper routes around midday on Thursday, July 30, instantly severing all radio and satellite communications with the team. Official reports from the Alpine Club of Pakistan state that the missing group includes five Nepali climbers led by Nimsdai, Pakistani guide Sohail Sakhi, American climber Mallory Geis, Omani climber Nadhira, Chinese climber Mr. Wang, and an additional foreign client.

Authorities and expedition teams are currently coordinating with military units to deploy aerial helicopter searches as soon as extreme mountain weather permits, while families and the global climbing community hold their breath and are praying for their safety.
