Spiritual Importance of Mount Kailash

Mount Kailash:
In Hinduism, Mount Kailash is believed to be the divine abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Devotees believe that Lord Shiva meditates eternally on Kailash, blessing all living beings with peace, wisdom, and liberation. The mountain is considered a spiritual center of the universe — a place where heaven and earth connect.
Kailash Kora (Parikrama)

The Kailash Kora, also called Kailash Parikrama, is the sacred circumambulation of Mount Kailash. The full kora is about 52 kilometers and is usually completed in 3 days.

Devotees believe that:
One Kora washes away the sins of a lifetime.
Ten Koras bring deep spiritual purification.
108 Koras can lead to liberation (moksha).

Spiritual Meaning of Yamadwar

Yamadwar, also known as the “Gateway of the God of Death,” is the sacred entrance point of the Kailash Kora near Darchen.

Spiritually, Yamadwar represents:
Leaving behind worldly attachments, ego, and negativity.
Beginning a new spiritual journey with purity and devotion.

Symbolic rebirth of the soul.
Pilgrims pass through Yamadwar with prayers and deep faith before starting the Kailash Parikrama. Many believe that entering through this sacred gate signifies surrendering oneself to Lord Shiva and beginning the path toward spiritual liberation.
