After a century of uncertainty surrounding his disappearance, part of the remains of Andrew Comyn “Sandy” Irvine are believed to have been found on the Central Rongbuk Glacier, beneath the North Face of Mount Everest. Irvine disappeared in 1924 while attempting to scale the world's highest mountain, alongside his climbing partner, the legendary George Mallory. The enigma of whether they made it to the summit before their tragic end has captivated both climbers and historians for years.

“Every Everest expedition is influenced by the legacy of Irvine and Mallory,” said , who, alongside climbers and filmmakers and , made the discovery during filming for an upcoming project. “Sometimes, life’s most significant finds happen when you're not actively searching. This moment was monumental and emotional for us, and we hope it brings some closure to his descendants and the wider climbing community.”
