We woke up to beautiful mountain views in the village of Pangom (2,945 m / 9,662 ft) and trekked through the forests, seeing some monkeys along the way. The trail has been easy going, as we gradually gain some altitude. We stopped in the village of Ramailo Dando (3,276 m/ 10,748 ft) for the evening.

śubha sandhyā ( good evening in Nepali). We had a well deserved rest after few day’s traveling, welcome party in Kathmandu and our first days trekking. We woke up to fresh mountain air and a tasty breakfast in the village of Paiya (2,860 m / 9,383 ft) with the lovely family in dreamland lodge. The weather was a bit cloudy with not much views but the temperature was perfect, and there was no wind or rain while we made our way through the forests towards the village of Pangom (2,945 m / 9, 662 ft). Some hot drinks a good dinner and another big sleep to rest and recover before we go higher.

Namaste, the World Sherpas Mera Peak team have begun their journey with an early flight to one of the most dangerous airports in the world, Lukla (2,860 m / 9,383 fr). We were lucky to fly as the weather has not been great the last few days. We had the trail to ourselves as we made our way to the village of Paiya ( 2,730 m / 8,957 ft) for the evening. Was interesting to walk on part of the new road being built to Lukla which will supposedly finished next year..All is well and we are excited to be going higher into the Himalayas over the next few weeks..

The Norgay /Hillary Step was a 40 ft rock face located at approximately 8,790 m / 28,839 ft on the Southeast ridge of Mt Everest. It was half way between the South summit and true summit 8,849 m / 29,032 ft . It was the last real challenge before reaching the summit. The step has been significantly altered or collapsed by the 2015 Nepal Earthquake and is now a gentler snow slope. You can see the South Summit and the 3,500 m drop down into the Western Cwm. Although not technically difficult the extreme altitude and conditions make this part of the climb a real test.

Climbing the Mushroom Ridge on Ama Dablam puts you on 60–70 degree alpine ice, with nearly a 1,000-meter drop toward the Mingbo Valley. The altitude hits fast, but the terrain stays firm and predictable if you keep solid front-points and follow the fixed line. It’s a demanding section, yet absolutely achievable with good pacing and strong guidance. We climbed it with clients this season, and everyone topped out with that mix of exhaustion and quiet surprise. If you want to experience this section in 2026, we’re opening spaces soon.

Climbing the Mushroom Ridge on Ama Dablam puts you on 60–70 degree alpine ice with nearly a 1,000-meter drop toward the Mingbo Valley. If you want to experience this section in 2026, we’re opening spaces soon.
