Trekking in Nepal!!!!! The heartland of Nepal is far from any roads, and the only way to get there is by walking through endless ranges of hills. It’s a rewarding experience to join local people and walk to remote villages and the foot of the Himalayan peak. Trekking in Nepal means a walking trip. Following trails, many of which have been used for centuries. It is not mountaineering although some of the popular trekking trails are used by mountaineering expeditions on their approach marches. Their length varies there are popular treks that only take a day and others that last a week or a month. Nepal offers some of the most spectacular and beautiful scenery in the world. It has a monopoly on the world highest peaks-eight of the 10 highest are found here. Mountain flight may give you superb views, but there is absolutely nothing like waking up or a crystal-clear Himalayan day and seeing an 8000m peak towering over you. Trekking in Nepal is not like hiking through an uninhabited national park. Local people are constantly passing by on the trails, usually carrying extraordinarily heavy loads of unexpected items. Along many routes there are regularly spaced villages in which to pause and find shelter. In the village you can meet people from diverse ethnic group. The warm, outgoing nature, general friendliness and good humour of Nepalese is often noted by trekkers. Religious festivals can make trekking even more enjoyable and interesting. In the Nepal our company the basic requirements for safe trekking on the mountain trails and gives an overview of the major trekking routes where you can go and stay in local lodges each night. Just feet from the chains on a 5.12a finger crack in Squamish, Cheech DelaRoca’s cam failed — sending him into a massive, gear-ripping fall. No helmet. Miraculously alive. 💥🧗‍♂️

TIBET IS CLOSED, NEPAL IS CALLING 🏔️

One door has closed, but the route to the summit remains open. While the Tibetan (North) side of Mount Everest is restricted for the Spring 2026 season, Nepal’s South Side is officially underway.

The China-Tibet Mountaineering Association has confirmed that the North Side, Cho Oyu, and Shishapangma are closed to international teams. As a result, global focus has shifted to Nepal’s Khumbu region, where expedition logistics and preparations are progressing at full scale.

Nepal Status: The Season Is On

The Icefall Doctors — the specialized high-altitude Sherpa team responsible for establishing the climbing route — officially began their approach to Base Camp on March 2, 2026.

Leadership & Timeline:
Under the leadership of Ang Sarki Sherpa and Dawa Jangbu Sherpa, the team is conducting technical preparation and refresher training from March 5–10, followed by the traditional Puja ceremony on March 16 before route construction begins.

The Mission:
Following the Puja, the team will commence fixing ropes and installing ladders through the hazardous Khumbu Icefall, establishing the route to Camp I and Camp II.

Critical Updates – Spring 2026

Permit Fees
Spring permit fees have increased to USD 15,000 per climber, marking the first season under the revised royalty structure.

Waste Management Protocol
Mandatory human waste carry-back systems are strictly enforced above Base Camp to protect the upper mountain environment. All climbers must return waste to Base Camp for proper disposal.

7,000m Qualification Requirement
The proposed requirement mandating prior ascent of a 7,000-meter peak in Nepal has not been approved for the 2026 season. The regulation remains under review for potential future implementation.

Mandatory GPS Tracking
All climbers are required to carry government-approved GPS tracking devices to support rescue coordination and provide real-time monitoring for Nepal’s Department of Tourism.

The Strategic Pivot

The Tibet closure has generated a significant surge in demand for the South Col route. Expedition operators are rapidly adjusting logistics to accommodate teams transitioning from the North Side. With global traffic concentrated on one route, early permit processing, structured logistics, and disciplined expedition management are more critical than ever.

Planning your ascent? Nepal is open, route fixing is imminent, and the April summit window will approach quickly. Secure your permits and finalize operational logistics without delay.

Visit Nepal 2020 What to Expect & Explore in Nepal in 2020

After the success of Visit Nepal Year 1998 and Nepal Tourism Year 2011, the Tourism Board of Nepal introduced Visit Nepal Campaign 2020. The Campaign was announced in 2015 to be held in 2018 but was later postponed to 2020.

The mainstream media publicized Nepal as utterly devastated by the earthquake in 2015 and failed to show that Kathmandu with other major cities was almost intact. The earthquake significantly affected the inflow of tourists in 2016 as the number of tourists halved compared with previous year.

The year 2017 saw the inflow of tourists bounce back to the pre-earthquake numbers. The year 2017 saw 940,218 foreigners enter the country. Some came for recreational activities while some visited to support the people of affected areas and with the motive to help the country economically by visiting Nepal.

The Visit Nepal 2020 campaign was scheduled in 2018 to promote that Nepal was a safe place to travel and only 12 of 75 districts were affected by the earthquake. The crawling upgrading activity of Tribhuwan International Airport and delayed construction of Gautam Buddha International Airport in Lumbini and improper transportation infrastructure led the Tourism Board to postpone the campaign to 2020.
