📍 This is a rare photo of first Everest climber Tenzing Norgay (co-climber Edmund Hillary) with his mother going to a monastery before setting out for the Everest expedition in 1953. Tenzing Norgay sought the blessings of his mother, Kinzom, at Tengboche monastery. His mother wanted to be sure if he was fit and well enough to go; having satisfied herself, she returned to her home.
