Autumn 2026 | On the Trails of Nepal 🇳🇵

From the Everest region to other Himalayan trails, our teams are out exploring the mountains, enjoying the autumn season and experiencing the beauty of Nepal.

Following the recent news of natural disasters in parts of Nepal, we understand that many travellers may have concerns about visiting the country.

While certain areas have been affected, it is important to remember that these incidents do not reflect the conditions across all of Nepal’s trekking regions. Many established trekking routes remain open, with trekkers continuing their journeys as planned.

Nepal remains a wonderful destination for trekking & climbing this autumn. As always, choosing the right route and staying informed about local conditions are important.

We still have a few spaces available on selected autumn 2026 departures, and bookings for 2027 are open.

Autumn 2026 is well underway, with several of our groups currently out on the trails and others having already completed their trips.

Here are a few moments from our ongoing and recently completed treks across the Himalayas. It is great to see our trekkers enjoying the trails, mountain views and the experience of being in the Himalayas.

𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟

We have just completed a five-day training program for our guides available in Kathmandu, focusing on first aid, leadership, teamwork, and our field safety protocols.

The first three days focused on first aid training, with practical sessions covering injury assessment, immediate care, and how to prevent a condition from getting worse. The final two days were conducted in-house, focusing on leadership, teamwork, emergency response, and our operational and safety protocols.

Recent events in Nepal have reminded us how quickly conditions can change. The recent flash floods have caused loss of lives, affected communities, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted travel routes in parts of the country.

These events remind us why preparation matters.

We cannot control the weather, terrain, or unexpected events. What we can control is how prepared our team is to respond. This five-day training is part of our continued effort to strengthen our team and maintain a high standard of safety and service across our trekking and climbing operations.

Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the recent flash floods, especially the families who have lost loved ones and those still waiting for news of their missing family members and colleagues.

In light of the recent flash floods and the difficult situation faced by many communities, Highland Expeditions has donated NPR 100,000 to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to support the ongoing relief efforts.

Our hearts are deeply saddened by the devastating flash floods that recently affected Rasuwa District and surrounding areas.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and to all the communities affected by this tragic event. Our thoughts are with everyone facing loss, uncertainty, and difficult days ahead.

We would also like to reassure our clients, partners, and friends that our entire team is safe. We remain in close contact with our teams and we are closely monitoring the situation and conditions in the affected areas.

The impact in Rasuwa has affected some local infrastructure and travel routes in the region. We are carefully assessing the situation and its potential impact on upcoming trips in the area.

Our trips in other regions of Nepal remain unaffected at this time and continue to operate as planned. Our teams continue to monitor conditions closely across the country.

For guests with upcoming trips that may be affected, we will contact you individually and keep you informed as we receive reliable updates and complete our assessment of the conditions on the ground.
