Indian passport holders are required to obtain NOC from Indian Embassy in Kathmandu prior to traveling onward to any third country from Nepal. The rule has been implemented to control unauthorized or illegal migration from Nepal via misuse of our airports. Nepal and India share an open border, allowing unrestricted movement between the two countries. Therefore, when traveling beyond Nepal, Indian nationals must comply with this requirement to ensure smooth immigration procedures.

Nepal sent two baby elephants, Rudra Kali and Khagendra Prasad, as a symbol of bilateral friendship and cooperation. The gift was announced during the Amir of Qatar's visit to Nepal in April 2024, and the elephants arrived in Qatar on December 17, 2025. Both were born and raised at the Elephant Breeding and Training Centre in Chitwan National Park. They are now housed at custom-built, climate-controlled zoological facilities in Al Khor Park in Qatar. Two experienced mahouts and a veterinary technician from Nepal accompanied the elephants to help them acclimatize and train local staff for at least a month. The authorities have invited the public to visit the elephants, highlighting the initiative as an event of significant national, cultural, and tourism value.

INR 500 notes can now be legally used and exchanged in Nepal. Both the Reserve Bank of India and Nepal Rastra Bank have approved high-denomination notes for cross-border transactions. Travelers can carry up to INR 25,000 in these notes when traveling between India and Nepal.

This change is meant to make cross-border travel, tourism, and trade easier for people from both countries. Earlier, only notes up to ₹100 were accepted in Nepal, which often caused problems for tourists.

Nepal experienced two days of significant unrest last week, triggered by a government-imposed social media ban and long-standing frustrations over corruption and misgovernance.

The demonstrations, led by youth groups have concluded following the resignation of the Prime Minister and the lifting of the social media ban. The new Prime Minister has been appointed in line with the protesters’ demands, and a new cabinet has been formed, comprising strong and respected personalities.

The situation has returned to normalcy, with banks, offices, schools & markets open.

All the restrictions have been lifted, and airports are functioning smoothly.

All major tourist destinations, trekking trails, and cultural heritage sites across Nepal remain fully accessible and unaffected.

With the main festival, Dashain, approaching, the country is gradually entering a festive mood.

Travelers are warmly invited to continue exploring Nepal’s stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
