The government has decided to impose a ban on the arrival of people from nine countries including that African continent which recorded the cases of the Omicron virus. The decision would come into effect from Thursday itself.

After the government order, the passengers coming from these nine countries should mandatorily stay in hotel quarantine for seven days on their own expenses.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held Monday had decided to restrict the passengers from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi and Hong Kong.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers stated that the passengers coming to Nepal via those countries or those visiting there within the past three weeks would be restricted from coming to Nepal from midnight today. The government took such decision to apply precautions against the new variant of COVID-19 that has gradually increased in the recent days.

Likewise, the government has decided not to issue on-arrival visa to the foreigners coming from those countries.

Nepal has officially opened for Tourism with Visa On Arrival (VOA) for travelers who have been fully vaccinated against Covid 19 minimum 14 days prior to their flight into Nepal. They must also hold PCR Negative certificate from a Govt/WHO certified hospital or clinic taken within 72 hours of their Flight into Nepal.
Upon their arrival in Nepal, they must conduct another PCR Test in Kathmandu and if found Negative they may carry on with their program in Nepal. But, if found Positive, they must stay minimum of 10 days in Quarantine at Govt. designated hotels that meet the required standards.
For Visitors who are not vaccinated, they will have to stay compulsorily for 10 days Quarantine and if on 11th day are found PCR Negative, they may also proceed with their program.
This decision was made official by the Cabinet Secretariat on Thursday 23rd Sept 2021 and will remain valid until further Notice.

Good for those who are waiting International Flights: Nepal Government has decided to give permission for two way International flights in following countries through Tourism Ministry's rules, arrangement and permission on a weekly basis:
- A total of four flights of Kathmandu-Doha will be operating in a week which means two flights each of Nepal Airlines and Qatar Airlines.
- A total of 4 flights in Kathmandu - UAE route which means 2 flights each from Nepal Airlines and 2 from UAE will operate in a week.
- A total of 2 flights per week in Kathmandu- Turkey route via Turkish Airlines
- 2 flights in Kathmandu - Dammam route will operate in a week from Nepal Airlines.
- 2 flights in Kathmandu - Kuwait route will operate in a week from Kuwait Airlines.
- 1 flight in Kathmandu - Muscat route will operate in a week from Oman Airlines.
- A total of 4 flights in Kathmandu - Kualalumpur route will operate in a week with 2 flights each from Nepal Airlines and Malaysia Airlines.
- 1 flight in Kathmandu - Seoul route will be operating in a week from South Korea Airlines.
- 1 flight in Kathmandu - Tokyo route will operate in a week from Nepal Airlines.
- A total of 4 flights in Kathmandu - Chengdu route (1 Nepal Airlines 1 China Airlines) and Kathmandu- Guangzhou route (1 Nepal Airlines and 1 China Airlines) will operate in a week.
