At 5,000 meters (16,404 feet) above sea level, the air pressure is about half of that at sea level, meaning there is significantly less oxygen available. This can lead to altitude-related symptoms—some are normal, while others may indicate severe conditions requiring immediate attention.
🟡 Common (Mild) Symptoms — Normal Acclimatization Response
These may occur in most people as the body adjusts to altitude:
• Shortness of breath, especially during exertion
• Fatigue and weakness
• Headache
• Dizziness or light-headedness
• Nausea or loss of appetite
• Difficulty sleeping (frequent awakenings or insomnia)
• Increased urination
• Mild swelling of hands, feet, or face (peripheral edema)
