Kalapatthar lies on the north of Gorakshep, gaining an elevation of 5,555 meters from sea level. Many people stay overnight in Gorakshep before and after the Base Camp visit and climb this peak from here in the morning.

Manaslu Base Camp sits at an elevation of 4,800 meters (15,748 feet) in the Gorkha District of northern Nepal. The Kongma La pass lies at an elevation of 5540 meters. It is located directly over Dingboche. The highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, is southwest of it. Trekking up the Kongma La pass provides a fantastic view of the Everest region, including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and many others.

The Chukhung Valley lies on the southern slopes of Lhotse and Nuptse by the Lho Glacier and the Nup Glacier, the western slopes of Cho Polu and Baruntse by the Imja Glaciers, and the northern slopes of Mount Ama Dablam by the Ama Dablam Glacier and Chukhung Glacier. It extends westward past the village of Dingboche where it joins the Pheriche Valley. The Imja Khola flows through the Chukhung Valley.There are 9 lodges in Chukung, all used by climbers to Imja Tse (also called Island Peak).
