If you are looking for a unique trekking destination in Nepal, Upper Mustang might be the best choice to experience many new things rather than other normal treks. This beautiful trekking is in the upper part of the Mustang district, bordering Dolpa district in the west and Tibet / China in the north. The main destination of the upper mustang trek is Lo Manthang, also known as the walled city. Upper Mustang special permit costs USD 50 per day and solo trekkers can apply for a special permit through a registered trekking agency. The area is rich in Buddhist culture with a language and lifestyle that is quite similar to Tibetan. The king of Lo Manthang did not have any power when Nepal became a federal democratic republic in 2008.
The 13-day Upper Mustang Trek cost is normally USD 1870 to USD 2775 per person depending on the number of pax booked, and the service included in the trip. Winter is normally snow-covered in most places and the best time to go on the upper Mustang trek is from March to the end of November.
