Thank you John Harrison for your beautiful testimonial :
" I first trekked with Bhim Thapa in 1993. We had booked through a UK tour operator and Bhim was our guide. We did the Annupurna circuit and then trekked up to the Annupurna base camp. The was my first visit to Nepal and it wasn’t without incident. On the 2nd day at a village called Besisahar one of our party became very ill. In those days mobile phone hadn’t been invented. However, our ever resourceful Bhim managed to get access to the local police telephone. A call to the British Embassy in Kathmandu resulted in a helicopter rescue within a few hours and a medivac flight to the UK. All was well in the end! The remainder of our 3 week trek was ably managed by Bhim. He always made sure that we were as comfortable as the accommodation would allow and entertained us most nights with singing and dancing. However, what set Bhim apart was his hospitality on our return to Kathmandu. There, he invited us to his house where we met his family. He served us a traditional Nepalese meal washed down with copious amounts of beer – all at his personal expense, which must have cost him a significant proportion of his guiding fee. However, for Bhim, it was a very good investment.
In 1997, I returned to Nepal with a party to trek up to the Everest Base camp. This time I booked directly with Bhim. Having paid him a deposit and then the final balance before leaving the UK, I had all my fingers crossed that he would be there at Kathmandu Airport to meet us. Of course he was. We were greeted by him and his team with smiles and garlands. Everything went well and I have used Bhim on the 6 other occasions I have led parties trekking and climbing in Nepal.
I can highly recommend Bhim to anyone who wants to trek/climb in the Himalayas and receive the personal attention that I received on numerous occasions."
