Today, all our members are back at Base Camp, having completed the acclimatization rotation. Next, the Sherpa team will make our Camp 4 ready, and our team will prepare for the summit push on Manaslu.

Himlung Himal Expedition 2026

Himlung Himal is a 7,126-meter peak in Nepal, known as a great stepping stone for climbers preparing for 8,000-meter mountains like Everest. It is considered a moderately challenging, less technical 7,000m peak ideal for those with basic mountaineering skills.

Today our team is loading the supplies for the Himlung Expedition. We will fix the ropes ourselves and attempt to summit in the first week of October, opening the route for first team. Our base camp will remain in place until the end of October, so interested climbers can still sign up for the 2026 Himlung Expedition.

The Nepal government is preparing to make 7,000m a requirement for climbers going to Everest in the future, so Himlung can be your best choice for preparation and also for fulfilling the 7,000m requirement.

2026 Gasherbum-I summit

The pain passes, but the beauty remains and life goes on with it…..
We had to hold back our news about the Gasherbrum I success following the accident on Broad Peak and we cannot properly congratulate another of our lead guides who has fulfilled his dream of climbing 14 peaks
On 1st August, our lead guide, PHUR GALJEN SHERPA completed his 14th eight-thousander with the summit of Gasherbrum I—a journey that began with his first ascent of Mt. Everest in 1998. Alongside him, PS Sim became the first Singaporean to climb Gasherbrum I. Also, huge congratulations to Valentyn Sypavin 🇺🇦 from Ukraine, Lhakpa Nuru, and Angdu Sherpa on your successful summits. A total of 7 climbers reached the summit on 1st August, marking the only successful summit of Gasherbrum I for the 2026 season.

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞

In deep sorrow, Imagine Nepal invites our team, our partners, our well-wishers, friends, and all members of the mountaineering community to join us at 𝐓𝐈𝐀 𝐨𝐧 𝟏𝟏 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐚𝐭 𝟒:𝟒𝟓 𝐏𝐌 𝐍𝐏𝐓, as we receive our beloved Kili Pemba Sherpa “Kilu,” arriving on Qatar Airways.

Arriving with him are our brothers Nima Sherpa and Gyalu Sherpa, lost in the same avalanche. We receive all three of them together, and we grieve for all three families.
Please come and help us bring him home.

On 3 July 2026, he stood on the summit of Nanga Parbat and completed all 14 of the world’s peaks above 8,000 meters. Only a small handful of climbers in history have ever done this. He had waited thirty years for that moment. He had twenty-seven days to hold it.

His achievements:
- All 14 8000’er completed, 3 July 2026
- Guinness World Record holder as one of the 10 Nepali climbers to climb K2 in winter
- 15 summits of Mount Everest, the first in 2003
- Fixed ropes and opened routes on some of the world’s hardest mountains, and took part in many rescue operations, saving the lives of others
- Established the route to the true summit of Manaslu in 2021 with Mingma G; the route climbers still follow today
- Guided a double amputee, to the summit of Everest in 2018 & Manaslu in 2021
- Began work in the mountains at just 16 years old, as a porter

He was taken from us by the avalanche on Broad Peak on 30 July 2026.

Those of us who climbed with him will remember something the records cannot hold. He was quiet. He never spoke of himself. He was patient with every client and steady with every teammate. People who climbed with him once came back to him for twenty years.

He gave his life to the mountains, and to the dreams of the people he guided there. Come and stand with us. 🙏

It is with a heavy heart that we share our grief over the incident on Broad Peak. We have lost our beloved friends and our brothers.

Kili Pemba Sherpa (Kilu) stood with us from the very beginning, from the days we first started climbing together. He was humble in every way and never tired of helping climbers when they needed him. He was a foundation of our team and a part of every summit we have ever celebrated.

Nims, you were a true friend to Imagine Nepal. We shared hard times and happy ones, we helped each other, and we faced the challenges together from the First winter K2 and back to that summit without giving up, as you always told us, “Giving up is not in the blood.”

Wang Zhong was with us on most of his 12 peaks. He was generous, and he trusted us and believed in us on every climb we shared. He was only two summits away from his dream of completing all 14. Knowing how close he came makes this loss even harder to carry.

We also mourn Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta), Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy, Nima Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa, Nawang Thundu Sherpa, Wang Zhong, Mallory Geis and Sohail Sakhi. Each of them gave their heart to the mountains, and each of them will be remembered by the people who climbed beside them.

We assure that you will not remain on the mountain. We will bring you home, so your families can say their final goodbye.

To every family grieving today, our deepest condolences. May their souls rest in peace, and may you find strength and comfort in the love and support of those around you.
