Join Himkala Adventure for a Free Walking Tour in Kathmandu! These tours run daily, led by Shiva (who has been doing this for 11 years now) and Sabinaya.
We will be exploring Newari courtyards and some very local Buddhist monasteries where we can give you insights on religion and the native people of Kathmandu as well as the whole of Nepal. We will visit historical junctions like Ason, which used to be one of the major stops on the Silk Route back in the day.
We will take you to very important temples worshipped by people from the locality near Kathmandu Durbar Square and take you through settlements where families have been doing the same jobs for centuries.
Then we will head to the north part of Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will not be going in (since the entry fee is 1000 rupees), but we will give you a detailed explanation of what is inside so you can return later if you are interested. Finally, we will head to the Monkey Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage site (200 rupee entry fee).
This tour covers more than just UNESCO sites. It also includes underrated courtyards and local shrines that are just as important to local people as the bigger temples. We can give you many different recommendations along the way!
