Our hearts are with Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading 🕊️🙏🏻
Long before NepTrek became what it is today, this region gave us our first steps. The drive out to the trailhead was always part of the magic — winding through the fertile valleys of Nuwakot, down into Syabrubesi, that beautiful little town where every trek to Langtang and Gosaikunda truly began. We walked that trail more times than we can count, and it was the people along it — the teahouse owners, the guides, the porters, the families who welcomed us in — who helped shape who we are as a company.
On August 26, a devastating flash flood tore through Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading, sweeping away homes, bridges, and entire stretches of the valley we know so well. Syabrubesi. Timure. The road through Nuwakot we drove so many times. Places that were beautiful, alive, full of memory — now unrecognizable. Hundreds of lives have been lost, and thousands remain missing, among them trekkers and pilgrims who were on their way to the trails. And this is a region that had only just rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake.
The trekking season that should be opening right now has closed instead. But what’s been lost here goes so far beyond a season, beyond business, beyond anything that can simply be rebuilt.
As a team, we’ve made a small contribution of our own toward relief efforts, and we’d gently encourage anyone able to do the same — even a small amount — to consider donating to Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to support the search, rescue, and rebuilding efforts on the ground.
To everyone in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading — the families searching for loved ones, the communities facing an unimaginable road ahead — we are thinking of you. This region gave us so much, and right now we just want you to know you’re not forgotten.
