Nepal Allows Solo Trekkers to Obtain Restricted Area Permits Through Registered Agencies

Nepal has introduced new provisions allowing solo foreign trekkers to obtain trekking permits for restricted areas through registered trekking agencies.

The change opens new possibilities for independent travellers who prefer to trek alone, while keeping the existing permit procedures, agency involvement and safety requirements in place.

For trekkers interested in exploring Nepal’s restricted regions, this provides greater flexibility while ensuring that the necessary arrangements are made through authorised local agencies.

Landslide Blocks Marsyangdi River, Flooding Chame Bazaar on Annapurna circuit trail.
A massive landslide at Ghatte Khola has blocked the Marsyangdi River in Chame Bazaar, the district headquarters of Manang. The resulting river blockage has caused severe inundation throughout the bazaar, prompting authorities to relocate residents from the surrounding areas to safety at the Naya Bhairavi Dal Company army barracks. Fortunately, weather conditions have begun to improve today as the region enters the final phase of the monsoon season, bringing hope for swift rescue and mitigation efforts.
