known as the 'Golden Temple' was built in the 12th century by king Bhaskar Varman.
We suggest visiting in early morning when worship & rituals are in full flow & recommend not wearing leather shoes in order to step on to the monastery's recessed floor.

Annual Kartik Naach (dance) of Patan, Nepal. A tradition dating back 380 years, held in the month of Kartik (mid-October/mid-Nov). This year it was over 8 nights, with this particular dance of the 7th night depicting 'Varaha Avatar' (defeat of Hiranyakshya). Next year, the organizers hope to do the full 27 nights, something that hasn't been done in over 70 years. Mark your travel plans to coincide with this spectacular open air event held at the historic Patan Darbar Square!
