We, at Palzom's Homestay are very delighted to host again earlier this summer the internationally renowned Tibetan Buddhist Translator Dhawa Dhondup (Acharya), who recently kindly sent us the following review. Dhawa la.In the beginning of this summer in Nepal, I once again chose to stay in Pokhara for over a month, mainly to take a rest subsequent to several months of translating at Dharma teachings in India for the former part of the year. As the expression goes, “Happy Returns!”, it was at “Palzom’s Homestay” , the Tibetan homestay of Palzom la’s, at Tashiling Tibetan Settlement, Chorepatan, Pokhara where I went back for the sojourn. A perfect recuperation place for a traveller’s weary body, and serenity for the mind. With the experience of the Team Palzom (the Proprietors Palzom la, partner Norgyey and brother Kunga) in hosting international guests for over a decade, this homestay has all the appealing attributes—say, in alliterative description—safety, spirituality and snugness; hospitality, hygienic and homely.
Located right amidst the community’s spiritual-hub of the Kora prayer-wheels beside the Tibetan Elders’ Relaxation Gazebo, one could relish immersing into the daily flow of the local Tibetans’ lives in this settlement. Situated a few paces away is the settlement’s Emporium, Community Hall (community dance at 6pm every Wednesday) and the dozen or so shops of Tibetan handicrafts and curios. One could attend the prayer services at the nearby Dhargye Monastery which is affiliated with the pre-eminent Gyuto Ta***ic Monastery and the liturgical melodies, the chants and the practice rituals follow those of Gyuto’s.
In late afternoon, the new rooftop belvedere of Palzom’s Homestay is a great spot to relax, and provided the sky is not overcast, after dark there is a marvellous panorama of the cosmic constellations in the sky above as a huge open book of the heavens to behold!
Palzom’s Homestay also runs the very popular Lucky Seven Cafe, for breakfast, on the Main Street lined with Tibetan restaurants. This was where I had my breakfast daily, with a cup of Tibetan butter tea, followed by a genuine masala tea.
I greatly enjoyed my stay this time again, and I highly recommend Palzom’s Homestay at Tashiling Tibetan Settlement, Chorepatan, Pokhara.
