Home-stay with Nepalese Family:

Travelers / Volunteers live with a traditional family. This provides volunteers with an opportunity to learn about all aspects of Nepali life, culture, food and people. Volunteers are expected to share items which show their own culture, customs and to share information about their home with the family and the community.

Volunteers doing this program exclusively become a member of the household, and participate in all activities including cooking, washing, working in the fields, and generally caring for the house and family. This is the best way to Experience real Nepal.

Note: Volunteers participating in most of the other programs will automatically be participating in this one as well, as they will be staying with Nepali host families.

Suggested Minimum Program Length: 2 Weeks

EVEREST BASE CAMP TREKKING 17 days

The definitive Himalayan trek, flying into Lukla and climbing to the foot of Mt. Everest, through breathless mountain landscapes. Your destination is either Everest Base Camp or the stunning view point at Kala Pathar. There is a powerful mystique surrounding the trek to the foot of Mt. Everest. By following this route, you will be following in the footsteps of great mountaineers. As you climb through the foothills of the world’s highest mountain, the terrain soars on all sides like jagged shards of glass. The trails are steep and the altitude hangs on your muscles like a diving belt, but the sense of achievement at the end of the trek is quite profound. However, this is not a mountaineering expedition or a wilderness survival experience. You should also be aware that views of Mt. Everest are not guaranteed. Although you stand a good chance of a clear view in the morning, many trekkers climb up to the summit of Kala Pathar, only to find that the peaks have vanished into a swirling mass of vapour. You will have more fun if you set aside any preconceptions about what to expect from this trek and allow the journey to be the destination.
