Job Opportunity: Booking Office Administrator / Guide
Are you passionate about people and creating unforgettable experiences? We're looking for a vibrant, customer-focused, and outgoing person to join our family-run team at Akaroa Dolphins.
This is a full-time position, starting in September, and includes weekend work.
You'll enjoy a varied role, splitting your time between:
• Welcoming guests and providing exceptional customer service in our booking office.
• Assisting with administration and reservations.
• Guiding guests on our award-winning dolphin-watching nature cruises, sharing the incredible wildlife and history of Akaroa Harbour.
We're looking for someone who:
• Can start in September and is available through to the end of April, and ideally to continue beyond.
• Has a warm, friendly, nurturing personality and is a team player.
• Is confident and communicates clearly with people from all over the world.
• Has strong computer skills and can quickly learn booking systems (experience with reservation software is an advantage).
• Is confident answering phone calls and responding professionally to customer enquiries by phone and email.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can multitask effectively. Remains calm under pressure, thinks quickly, and can confidently take the lead when required.
• Is adaptable and happy working across different roles on a flexible roster that may occasionally change at short notice.
• Has strong sea legs and enjoys working on the water.
• Comfortable being on their feet for extended periods.
• Has at least two years' experience in the workforce, preferably in a customer service or tourism environment.
• Experience in tourism or social media is a bonus, but not essential.
• Has their own accommodation in or near Akaroa.
